Established in 1974, Campion, Barrow, and Associates offers unique and highly qualified psychological services for many different needs.

This is particularly the case for individuals being hired for authority level positions.  This creates the need for reliable and valid results which foster an increased level of defensibility against liability risks. 


Our organization is relevant and active in the national and global markets from our administrative offices in Champaign, Illinois. We offer local therapy, counseling, and specialized assessments in the area of Champaign-Urbana and provide public safety evaluation across the Midwest. The way we look at it, we have the opportunity to help people better their lives and impact their communities and organizations.

    BIO: Dr. Yi-Chien Hung (Itch) received his PhD in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Walden University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Applied Psychology from Walden University. He has worked with a wide demographic ranging from children to adults in the context of in-patient residential settings, therapeutic day schools, as well as in out-patient settings.

    Special populations that he currently works with include first responders (law enforcement officers, firefighters, correctional officers, dispatchers, etc.) and full-time ministers (pastors, missionaries, seminary students, etc.) both in therapeutic and assessment capacities.

    He believes strongly in the individual’s growth in self-awareness as an essential component of the therapeutic process. With this philosophy in mind, he primarily utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT). He specializes in personality assessments as tools for self-awareness and incorporates them when appropriate. He specializes in trauma treatments and has been trained in and incorporate modalities such as Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Brainspotting (BSP), and the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).

    He also has experience with career development coaching and consultation through utilizing personality assessments and is certified in assessments such as CliftonStrengths (CS), the Hogan Assessment Systems, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), 16 Personality Factors (16PF), and the Wagner Enneagram Personality Style Scales (WEPSS) among others. He is also certified in aptitude testing through the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) for career assessment and coaching.

    He is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor with the National Christian Counselors Association and provides Christian counseling for those who seek it as he believes that spiritual health is an essential part of holistic healing and spiritual formation. For those who seek it, he incorporates scripture, prayer, and biblical principles. His primary orientation is an integration approach.

Our Founder


MICHAEL A. CAMPION, Ph.D. is the founding psychologist for Campion, Barrow, and Associates. He led the practice for 36 years before retiring in 2010 and his son, Dr. Thomas Campion Ph.D., taking ownership. He began Campion, Barrow, and Associates in 1974 in Decatur, Illinois. Campion, Barrow, and Associates is now a multidimensional practice that offers counseling and assessment services. Dr. Michael Campion was a national and international consultant within the public safety community, business, and not-for-profit organizations.

Dr. Michael Campion has a history as an author, consultant, and researcher. He is a retired associate clinical professor at the University of Illinois Medical School. Dr. Campion has conducted several research projects for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and has been called upon to be an expert witness. Dr. Campion has conducted numerous Independent Psychological Examinations (IPE) for insurance companies, plaintiffs’ attorneys, and police and fire commissions. He now enjoys spending time in his cabin in Northern Minnesota and with his family.

Campion, Barrow, and Associates has over 45 years of service and has particularly enjoyed its long relationship with many of its clients, agencies, departments, and ministries.
