Promotion Exams
-This assessment package focuses on leadership
and other management skills necessary for success. Key areas include
communication, decision-making, decisiveness, delegation, development of
subordinates, energy, flexibility, initiative, interpersonal ability, team
work vs. solo work tendencies, passivity vs. assertiveness, detail
orientation, objectivity tendencies, subjectivity tendencies, pessimism,
optimism, feeling vs. fact focused, creativity, desire fro power, desire to
help others, judgment, leadership, management control, oral
communication, organization, problem-solving, core values, self-objectivity,
written communication, healthy lifestyle habits, willingness to learn etc.
-The assessment includes a written
psychological battery, and extensive interview, and in-basket exercises to
evaluate management skills. The examination's main focus is on leadership,
core values, and the ability to be a role model. A comprehensive report is
written on each candidate as well as a summary rating, including areas of
strength and areas where growth is recommended.
-The Promotional assessment utilizes a
multi-rater system of police psychology professionals to enhance overall
reliability and accuracy.
-The assessment provides another useful
camera angle when comparing a number of candidates for the same position.
-The tests are descriptive in nature and
valuable in selecting people who do not have the profile necessary for
additional leadership at this time.
